On a cold afternoon near the corner of 10th Avenue and 23rd
Street in New York City, BlackArtistNews spotted
cool cat Paul D. Miller, a.k.a., DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid. He kindly
paused to shake my hand but our conversation was brisk, for reasons of time,
not weather: I caught him as he was headed to an artist talk as part of his
current residency The Met Reframed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Miller was recently
announced Executive Editor of Origin Magazine and also contributed music
and narration for the new App for the Smithsonian Museum’s travelling retrospective Romare Bearden: A Black Odyssey.
