Photographer Dawoud Bey and Senior Lecturer in Painting and Discourse at the University of Cape Town's Michaelis School of Fine Art Raél Salley take a moment to acknowledge BlackArtistNews on July 8, 2012 at the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago. Bey gave his former Columbia College colleague a personal tour of his exhibit Picturing People which travels to Miami in September (around which time a catalog should be available.) In addition to having Dawoud Bey: Harlem, U.S.A. on view at the Art Institute of Chicago (May 2 - September 9, 2012) Bey is co-curator of the presidential campaign fundraising exhibit Artists for Obama 2012 (July 12 - 27, 2012) which includes works by Richard Hunt, Roy DeCarava, Tony Fitzpatrick, and other notable artists at the Stephen Daiter Gallery in Chicago.
